The aligners are made using state-of-the art computer imaging technology, which is the first of its kind in the world. The aligners are comfortable and removable, so patients can eat and drink as normal during the treatment process. They can also keep their mouth perfectly clean and fresh. And with no metal or wires, there is less chance of gum disease, abrasions, or other damage being caused to teeth. Frequently Asked Questions: Invisalign Clear Aligners
- How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign Clear Aligners gradually move teeth with an appropriate placement of controlled movement on the teeth. So at each stage, only certain teeth are allowed to move, as per the Invisalign treatment plan for that particular stage.
- How long does treatment take?
This depends on the complexity of the treatment but typically treatment can last between 6 and 24 months. During your consultation, your Invisalign Dentist (Andrew Toy) will be able to provide you with more detailed information.
- Are there any restrictions on what I can eat during treatment?
No. Unlike traditional wires and brackets, you can eat whatever you like while in treatment because you remove your Invisalign Clear Aligners to eat and drink. Thus, there is no need to restrict consuming any of your favourite foods and snacks.
- What are Invisalign Clear Aligners made of and what do they look like?
Custom made to fit snuggly over your teeth, the virtually invisible Invisalign Clear Aligners are made of strong medical grade thermoplastic material - uniquely developed for the Invisalign System.
- Is Invisalign treatment painful?
Some people may experience temporary, minor discomfort at the beginning of each new stage of treatment. This is normal and is typically described as a feeling of pressure. It is a sign that the aligners are working.
- Will the aligners affect my speech?
The vast majority of patients report no effect on speech. However, as with traditional orthodontic appliances, there is an initial adjustment period associated with having something new in the mouth
